YouTube Transcript Downloader, by Interparadigm LLC

YTTD is a private automation tool that turns YouTube links into text transcripts. It is built and operated by Interparadigm LLC for its owner's own use. It is not a public service, and there is nothing to sign up for.

This site exists to describe the app that appears on Google's sign-in screen. If you reached it from a Google consent screen, the app is the owner's personal script, and it only works with the owner's own Google account and the owner's service mailbox.

What it does

  1. The owner emails one or more YouTube links to a dedicated mailbox.
  2. A script on the owner's own computer reads only those emails, looks up the public transcripts for the videos, and saves them as text files.
  3. It replies to the owner with the files attached, and keeps a copy in the owner's Google Drive.

Google access

The app asks Google for access to the Gmail and Google Drive of its dedicated service account only, to read the owner's request emails, send replies, and store the resulting files. Details of exactly what is accessed and how it is handled are in the Privacy Policy.
